This month’s Celebrity DUI / DWI Round Up highlights several DUI arrests involving noteworthy celebs including a supermodel, the voice actor of Squidward from SpongeBob Squarepants, and the star of the TV series American Hot Rod.
Some celebrities who are arrested for suspicion of intoxicated driving simply plead guilty to the charges and accept the full consequences of a conviction.
But many celebs facing drunk driving charges decide to explore alternative legal options with the help of a qualified DWI defense attorney.
By working with a DUI defense attorney, many individuals are able to obtain a more favorable outcome compared to a full conviction, or get the charges dismissed entirely.
At Levow DWI Law, P.C., we believe that it is important for individuals arrested for DWI to fully understand the potential consequences of a DUI conviction and to be aware all of their legal options before making a decision on how to proceed.
We have helped many celebrities (and non-celebs) accused of intoxicated driving to challenge their DUI arrest resulting in reduced penalties or a total dismissal of the charges. We are dedicated to aggressively defending the rights of our clients while maintaining their privacy. You won’t find a client of Levow DWI Law, P.C. on this roundup.
We hope that the celebrities featured in this roundup contact an experienced DUI lawyer to explore their legal options as well.
Without further ado, here is the January 2016 Celebrity DUI / DWI Round Up…
The American Hot Rod star Duane Mayer was recently arrested for drunk driving in Anaheim, CA.
According to sources, Mayer was driving a 1932 Ford Coupe during the early hours of New Year’s Day when he was involved in a single vehicle auto accident.
Police say that Mayer fell out of his car while it was still moving at 25mph.
Mayer was rushed to the hospital to be treated for major injuries.
Additionally, pictures from the scene of the accident show Duane’s mint-condition, 1932 Ford sustained significant damage in the crash.
Rodger Bumpass - the voice of Squidward on the popular Nickelodeon cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants - was arrested on DUI charges on the night of January 15th.
According to police reports, officers approached Bumpass while he was leaning on his vehicle on Burbank Street in Burbank, CA.
The famous voice actor was then arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after failing a field sobriety test.
While police did not actually see Bumpass driving, he apparently admitted to having driven after drinking when police approached him.
The 64-year-old voice actor has been on SpongeBob SquarePants since 1999 and has provided the voice for characters in many animated movies over the years including Monsters, Inc., Shrek, Cars, and Ice Age.
The 47-year-old supermodel Stephanie Seymour was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving on January 15th in Greenwhich, CT.
According to reports, Seymour was stopped on an exit ramp off of I-95 when another car came up and stopped behind her vehicle. Police say that Seymour then put her vehicle in reverse and backed up into the other vehicle.
The officer on the scene arrested Seymour for suspicion of intoxicated driving after reportedly smelling alcohol on her and seeing that her eyes were bloodshot.
However, Seymour refused to take a field sobriety test when asked to do so. It is within your rights to refuse to take a field sobriety test, but not to refuse a breath test.
