The Celebrity DUI / DWI Round Up is a monthly report that lists celebrities who have been featured in the news after being arrested on charges of intoxicated driving.
While some of the celebrities featured in these round ups choose to hire a qualified DWI defense attorney after being arrested, many simply plead guilty to the charges without giving serious thought to their other legal options.
The truth is that there are alternative options to falling on the sword and pleading guilty without a fight. An experienced DWI attorney may be able to help you become acquitted of the charges or reduce the penalties associated with your arrest.
At Levow DWI Law, P.C., we believe it is important for individuals to understand all of their rights and legal options after a DWI arrest so that they can make the best decisions going forward. Furthermore, we are dedicated to aggressively defending the rights of our clients while maintaining their privacy. You won’t find a client of Levow DWI Law, P.C. on this roundup.
This month’s round up highlights three stories of celebs who were arrested for DUI during the month of November, including a college football star, a famous American actor and a former basketball player.
Former NBA star Chris Duhon was arrested in November for DUI in Eleanor, West Virginia after police found him sleeping at the wheel of a running vehicle.
According to reports, police officers responded to a call at about 4:00 am where they found Duhon sleeping at the wheel of a Ford Escape, which was running at the time.
After waking him up, officers said that Duron's eyes were red and his speech was slurred.
Police then administered three field sobriety tests - all three of which the former Blue Devil did not pass.
Duhon was taken to Putnam County Courthouse where he submitted to a breath test which suggested that his BAC was more than twice the legal limit in the State of West Virginia. As a result, he was arrested on charges of aggravated DUI.
Duhon played for the Duke Blue Devil’s basketball team from 2000 through 2004 and won a national title there in 2001. He also played nine seasons in the NBA for several teams including the Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakes. Duhon is currently an assistant coach at Marshall University.
American actor and singer Michael Weatherly was arrested on DUI charges in November after being pulled over by police in Los Angeles, CA.
Reports say that Weatherly, who stars on the hit TV series NCIS, was stopped by police on November 26th in Hollywood at around 1:00 am for speeding.
According to TMZ reports, the LAPD officers at the scene suspected that Weatherly was under the influence of alcohol and administered tests which suggested that Weatherly’s BAC was above the legal limit.
He was then taken to jail where he spent 15 hours before being released.
Ohio State Buckeye’s starting quarterback J.T. Barrett was recently arrested for DUI in Ohio after police stopped his vehicle near a DUI checkpoint.
The 20-year-old QB was driving an SUV when he was stopped by police and given several field sobriety tests before being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Barrett later plead guilty to driving under the influence in a court hearing and received several penalties including a fine, 180 day license suspension, and mandatory alcohol classes.
