The Celebrity DUI / DWI Round Up is a monthly recap of celebrities who’ve recently been arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Although it is illegal to be drunk while driving, it is not necessarily illegal to consume alcohol and then drive.
However, many people (including celebrities) decide to plead guilty after being arrested for DUI or DWI without considering the possibility that mistakes made during the arrest, if challenged in court, could result in dismissal of the charges or a reduction in the loss of driving privileges.
People often plead guilty without even considering defending the case, assuming that there is no defense to the DWI charge, because they do not know that other options exist or they do not fully understand their legal rights.
Regardless of the situation, it is always best to consult a legal professional who specializes in DUI / DWI law, to go over all of your options after being arrested for suspicion of DUI / DWI.
At Levow DWI Law, P.C., we have helped many celebrities and others to successfully fight the charges against them after a DWI arrest. We have also been very successful in keeping celebrities' names from being publicized.
Whether you are someone famous or not, you should consult with a qualified DWI lawyer before deciding to just plead guilty. Have someone well-versed in DWI law review your defenses and explain the many variables of a DWI charge. Pleading guilty without understanding the scope of the affects of a conviction is unwise.
