This month’s DUI / DWI Roundup covers multiple DUI arrests involving celebrities including Tiger Woods’ recent arrest after he allegedly had a bad reaction to prescription drugs. The report also covers the story of David Hasselhoff’s daughter, Hayley Hasselhoff, who was recently arrested on DUI charges.
Professional golfer Tiger Woods was recently arrested on DUI charges after he was found asleep at the wheel of his vehicle in Jupiter, FL. Tiger quickly issued a statement after his arrest stating that he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident and that his alleged intoxication was due to a bad reaction to prescription medications that he had been taking after recent surgeries.
According to reports, police officers found the 79-time PGA Tour champion asleep at the wheel of a 2015 Mercedes AMG S65 that was stopped on Military Trail just south of Indian Creek Parkway on Monday, May 29th.
Police said they found Tiger’s vehicle stopped in the right lane of Military Trail -- approximately 8 miles from Woods’ house -- at about 2:03 a.m., noting that the engine was still running and the right blinker was on.
Tiger reportedly didn’t know where he was when questioned by law enforcement officers and allegedly “had extremely slow and slurred speech," according to police reports.
Video footage from the police dash-cam, at the scene of the incident, shows Woods allegedly failing multiple field sobriety tests before eventually being arrested on suspicion of DUI at around 3:00 a.m.
Officers then took Tiger to a local police station where he submitted to two breathalyzer tests which both returned results of 0.00% Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) - meaning there was no alcohol in his system at the time of the testing.
According to the official website of the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Woods was booked at 7:18 a.m. and was eventually released from custody at 10:50 a.m. the same morning.
"I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved," he said in a statement. "What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn't realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly."
David Hasselhoff’s daughter, Hayley Hasselhoff, was recently arrested on DUI charges in Los Angeles after police say that they found her asleep at the wheel of her vehicle on the LA Freeway.
According to police reports, the 24-year-old American actress and model was driving on the 101 freeway when she came to a complete stop on one of the exit ramps.
Witnesses apparently called 911 to report the activity and when police arrived at the scene they found Hayley in the driver’s seat with her foot on the brake.
The responding officers were able to wake Hayley and were able to get control of her vehicle without any issues.
Police reports state that officers noticed the odor of alcohol on Hayley’s person and that she failed a field sobriety test before being arrested on suspicion of DUI. She was then taken straight to a nearby hospital to be evaluated and was eventually taken to jail where she was booked.
