Parsippany has a wealth of beautiful nature and other active attractions to enjoy when you feel like escaping from the city or suburbs. Our Parsippany DWI lawyers are particularly fond of the following spots:
This nature preserve is situated on the Second Watchung Mountain, stretching across the communities of Cedar Grove, North Caldwell, and Verona. You can walk along several short trails on the preserved ridgeline while you view wildlife habitats that have been restored by the Hilltop Conservancy. These include former demolition sites. Parts of the Hilltop Reservation have recently been officially certified by that National Wildlife Federation as "Wildlife Habitats."
Hilltop Reservation is made up of lands which were formerly part of the grounds of the Essex County Hospital Center. This land was reserved as a Conservation Easement in 2001 by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. This permanently designates this land for conservation and recreation uses, protecting it from future development.
The Funplex offers carnival-style thrills throughout all four seasons with its indoor amusement park. During the summer, there are outdoor facilities which are open to the public, featuring outdoor rides like a roller coaster and free-fall, bumper boats, and the famous Splashplex outdoor water park. This outdoor area is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, but the fun doesn't stop there. The Funplex's indoor facilities offer entertainment and thrills for the whole family even in the coldest months of the year.
Some of our favorite attractions at the Funplex include:
Morris County has its own little version of Central Park, which features an expansive dog park and playgrounds. The dog park is actually split into two - with one section for smaller dogs and another wide open space that allows larger dogs to roam freely and play with others. This segregation makes the park a suitable choice for dog owners of all types, as you don't have to worry about your Dachshund being attacked by a Pit Bull.
Even if you don't have dogs, Central Park of Morris County is a great place to relax with the family. There are several recreational facilities here, including:
Camp Dawson is a small camping area. During the warmer months, families can enjoy all types of recreational activities here, such as:
During the winter, Camp Dawson's steep hills are a popular destination for sledding. Several local sports teams also use the fields to play and practice, including two turf fields which are used for football, soccer, and lacrosse. The fields also have lighting, which allows teams to play and practice at night.
Great Piece Meadows is a nature preserve of open meadows and wetlands, which includes several Passaic River basin wetlands, including Great Swamp, Black Meadows, and Troy Meadows. Notable wildlife here includes great blue heron, salamanders, turtles, mink, and muskrats. These wetlands also support rare plants like tufted loosestrife and Louisiana Sledge. A popular destination for boaters, birdwatchers, and other lovers of the outdoors.
