The unincorporated community of Ellisburg is located in Cherry Hill Township, with an estimated population of 8,168 as of the 2010 Census. Information provided by the United States Census Bureau shares the total area of Ellisburg is 0.905 square miles of purely land, no bodies of water.
The region which became recognized as Ellisburg was initially the location of a blacksmith and tavern, which soon drew private residences to the region. It was named after the influential Ellis family who colonized the region. The arrival of a stagecoach to the pub aided expansion even further. Ellisburg was founded near the intersection of Cooper's Creek Road and Haddonfield Moorestown Road.
